Fashionable Sound

I fell in love with this speaker by Jawbone the moment I saw it!  Its rectilinear design and lipstick-red color are stunning.  This piece streams music wirelessly.   I am all for any functional object that is fashionably designed…

A definite chic accessory for any outdoor entertaining & living!

Happy Chic Red, White and Blue!

With July 4th fast approaching, below is a roundup of items to inspire a chic holiday party.  To entertain fashionably, give a nod to the patriotic colors without getting too thematic with the décor.  Make white and either red or blue as the dominant colors, then accent sparsely with the other color.

Dwell on Design Favorites!

I visited Dwell on Design last Friday.  Below are my favorite products from the show!

1) Molo

The glowing wall is made of modular textile blocks with LED lighting.  The blocks can be used to create spaces.  It’s a pretty cool product!

Cloud Softlight

2) ID Infinity Drain

I am really excited to discover a cool looking shower drain.  Always love a fashionable function!

3) Poggen Pohl

Poggen Pohl’s new kitchen, Artesio.  A sleek kitchen.  I really like the lacquered glass front and ½” countertop.

4) Caleb Siemon

Hand blown crystal pendants by Caleb Siemon.  They are gorgeous and very reminiscent of Murano glasses.

What I love! Bold ceramics…

I discovered these ceramics by Sylvie Saint-André Perrin on Elle Décor.  These pieces are part of her collection called Glacier Stripe.  They are available at Bergdorf Goodman.

I love the rich color and organic stripes.  I can see this dinnerware being versatile.  Accent them with lime green and white peonies for a light summer look.  Or, for a dark and sultry look for dinner, mix them with emerald green and black.

Hong Kong Part IV – Sweet & Beautiful

I was blown away by how many beauty and candy shops there are in Hong Kong.  They are everywhere — on the streets, in the shopping malls (I admit I visited a few of those…)  What I loved about them is that every place is well-designed, and the products beautifully displayed.  Everything looked delectable, both make-up and candies!  Check out some of the places below…

The Sophisticate

Heima Chocolate Boutique

A combined chocolate and tabletop accessories boutique – an interesting concept.

Hong Kong Part II – Cool Shopping

Hong Kong is very much a shopping mecca – it is fascinating and so much fun!  The products are always so beautifully displayed, making even the most mundane item attractive (I found myself wanting to buy kitchen wares to bring home)!  Check out some of these cool products and shops below…

Chinese Arts & Crafts

This place in Kowloon sells some of the most beautiful works of art and souvenirs.  Definitely, worth visiting.

A detail shot of the carving – just incredible!

Artful Display

Loved the red lacquered display cases, Chinese Arts & Crafts

Display of hand painted snuff bottles

Front window of a store for kitchen & home products

Loved the minimal and industrial shoe display fixtures, Lane Crawford

Canton Road

This road with all the luxury stores is like the Rodeo Drive of Hong Kong.

Louis Vuitton, Canton Road

It was so interesting to see people lining up to go inside these European luxury boutiques.  Same thing at the Chanel boutique on the same street.

Mall with a View

Harbor City Mall in Kowloon has great views of the harbor.  They did such a wonderful job taking advantage of this asset in the design of the mall.

The large picture window at the Bobby Brown counter has stunning views.  Getting glimpses of the harbor in an unexpected area was a visual treat.

Cool & Kitschy Products

There are so many boutiques with fun design products.  A couple of my favorite stores were K11 Design Store and xPlus.

Stools, K11 Design Store

iPhone cases, K11 Design Store

Dolls, xPlus

Home design area, xPlus

Fun illustration at a cash counter, xPlus

Adorable puppies! xPlus

Sugar Blossom Bake Shop

How can you not fall in love with a name like that???

It is one of my favorite pastry shops.  Located in San Clemente, CA, it specializes in cookies and cupcakes.  The pastry chef, Lei Shishak, is formerly a pastry protégé of Michael Mina.  Her background in fine desserts shows through the decadent flavor and texture.

My favorite is the triple chocolate cupcake – just divine!  I am always looking forward to their seasonal desserts.

Shop the World!

There is such joy in exploring different markets while travelling.  Even if it is just to see how they showcase their goods.
