I am thrilled to share a few photos of a recent interior design project in Carthay Circle, Los Angeles, CA!

A complete renovation of this 3,500+ s.f.1920s Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, combining Spanish, Parisian and New Orleans design elements with a contemporary angle, makes this a glamorous and functional haven for a fashionable entrepreneur and her young family.

Orange Pop!

I would like to share some images of a recently completed residential project of Seyie Design.

Anytime we work with clients, we first take the time to understand who they are, their personal tastes, and unique lifestyle.  We love fashionable interiors, but strive to ensure that they capture the essence of each client and balance them with function to support individual lifestyles.  The architecture of this home is a beautiful light-filled Mid-Century Modern style.  Our client has an affinity for contemporary style, but still wanted their home to be warm and inviting.  The end result reached a balance with white interior and “pops” of orange (a favorite color of our client), replete with contemporary sofa in a tweedy fabric, leather nesting cocktail tables, shag rug and other custom made cushions to create ultra comfortable seating.  We think our mission was accomplished!

Check out the photos below, along with design tips…

Styling cocktail table:

•    A combination of coffee table books mixed with other favorite accessories and flowers works nicely together.
•    I think of coffee table books as part of the accessories, hence like to color coordinate them.
•    Flowers with sculptural lines make nice décor, such as the miniature calla lily here.
•    Keep accessories at different levels.  Emphasize this by placing an object above a group of books and keeping a low profile bowl on its own.

Layering with texture in a monochromatic scheme:
In this monochromatic color scheme, we used varying texture to create visual depth (though not that visible in the photo.)  The throw pillows are a solid color in a flat weave, while the banquet cushions are woven fabric with subtle color striation.

Keeping a cohesive look:
In contemporary interiors with open plan, having a cohesive look is quite important.  The accent color of orange created that thread for continuity here, through the seat cushion and throw pillows at the window seat, as well as various accessories throughout.

Tips for Al Fresco Memorial Weekend Entertaining

While Memorial Day weekend is a patriotic holiday, it also means the unofficial start of summer!  Having lived on the East Coast for eight years where six month winters felt endless at times, Memorial Day always offered the promise of warmer weather and sunshine ahead.  While I now live in sunny Southern California, this holiday weekend still holds a special place in my heart…

Below is my inspiration for al fresco entertaining this holiday weekend or for another summer night…

THE LOOK – Different shades of blue accented with natural elements and clear glass.
Blue looks great against a backdrop of outdoor greenery, while natural accents like woven rattan or unfinished wood brings a casualness that works well for al fresco dining.

Where to find these items:

1 – Coordinating cocktail plate & serving bowl by Oscar de la Renta

2 – Arugula and peach salad from Bon Appetit

4 – Domaine de la Fouquette Rose, Provence (an all-time favorite rose) from Wine House

5 – Lantern from Crate & Barrel

6 – Ivory citronella candles (to keep away insects) from Crate & Barrel

7 – Natural woven tray from William & Sonoma

Have a fashionable Memorial Day weekend celebration!

Branded Salon

Interior Branding is a tool to communicate the essence of your company’s brand identity through the design of its physical environment.  Successful companies like Apple, Chanel and Louis Vuitton use it as a business strategy to enhance their brand image, gain client loyalty and, ultimately, higher profits.

Good design is no longer considered an elitist idea, but rather is now an integral part of a sound business strategy, and Interior Branding is an important aspect of achieving business success.

The five key elements of a well-branded interior include:

1.    Reinforcement of Visual Identity – Using your company’s logo, a trademark design element or color throughout as an interior detail.

2.    Creating an Interior Synonymous with Your Product or Brand – Reflecting your company’s core personality in your interior environment, which encompasses both aesthetic and ambiance.

3.    Consistent Visual Language – If your company has a presence in more than one physical environment, your design aesthetic should always be consistent, but not necessarily identical.  This may include multiple locations, or different types of spaces such as a freestanding boutique or spa, a shop-in-shop, or product counter inside a department store.

4.    Creating a Special Experience – When clients walks into your spa, retail boutique or office, you want them to have a memorable experience, as well as transact business.  You can achieve that by developing distinct areas where you can entertain and educate them about your products, or by creating inviting residential-style environments where they would want to linger.

5.    Engaging the Senses – Paying careful attention to how your clients connect with your business through their various senses – hearing, touch, sight, smell and taste. Make sure the connections are interesting and consistent with your brand identity.

Jäger iOsonic Toothbrush and Teeth Whitening System

This toothbrush releases a constant flow of positive ions from the lithium power source during the brush cycle, which temporarily reverses the polarity of your teeth causing plaque to be repelled from your teeth and drawn to the negatively charged toothbrush head.

The pink color and the charger with the UV sanitizer are great touches.  www.thejager.com
