Entertaining in Style!

Entertain in style this weekend with a glamorous table setting at your Oscar party! A simple wood branch and moss can be embellished with feathers and flowers to create a dramatic centerpiece. Your decor will look as stunning as the looks on the red carpet!

For the dramatic centerpiece, I used a long branch covered with moss as the base and layered it with flowers, feathers and berries.  To keep it sophisticated still I kept the color scheme of the centerpiece a monochromatic pink.  This way it is fun and frivolous but not tacky.

Orange Pop!

I would like to share some images of a recently completed residential project of Seyie Design.

Anytime we work with clients, we first take the time to understand who they are, their personal tastes, and unique lifestyle.  We love fashionable interiors, but strive to ensure that they capture the essence of each client and balance them with function to support individual lifestyles.  The architecture of this home is a beautiful light-filled Mid-Century Modern style.  Our client has an affinity for contemporary style, but still wanted their home to be warm and inviting.  The end result reached a balance with white interior and “pops” of orange (a favorite color of our client), replete with contemporary sofa in a tweedy fabric, leather nesting cocktail tables, shag rug and other custom made cushions to create ultra comfortable seating.  We think our mission was accomplished!

Styling cocktail table:

•    A combination of coffee table books mixed with other favorite accessories and flowers works nicely together.
•    I think of coffee table books as part of the accessories, hence like to color coordinate them.
•    Flowers with sculptural lines make nice décor, such as the miniature calla lily here.
•    Keep accessories at different levels.  Emphasize this by placing an object above a group of books and keeping a low profile bowl on its own.

Layering with texture in a monochromatic scheme:
In this monochromatic color scheme, we used varying texture to create visual depth (though not that visible in the photo.)  The throw pillows are a solid color in a flat weave, while the banquet cushions are woven fabric with subtle color striation.

Keeping a cohesive look:
In contemporary interiors with open plan, having a cohesive look is quite important.  The accent color of orange created that thread for continuity here, through the seat cushion and throw pillows at the window seat, as well as various accessories throughout.
