Jäger iOsonic Toothbrush and Teeth Whitening System

This toothbrush releases a constant flow of positive ions from the lithium power source during the brush cycle, which temporarily reverses the polarity of your teeth causing plaque to be repelled from your teeth and drawn to the negatively charged toothbrush head.

The pink color and the charger with the UV sanitizer are great touches.  www.thejager.com

A Zen Fantasy at the GRAMMY Awards Official Talent Gift Lounge

Photo by Matthew Simmons:WireImage  Seyie Design, photo by Matthew Simmons/WireImage

Sting, Miguel, LL Cool J, Mumford & Sons, Juanes, Neil Patrick Harris and more re-charged from rehearsals by escaping into an enchanted Zen garden-inspired Official Talent Gift Lounge for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, where they were pampered with the best of what Hollywood has to offer.

We were excited to collaborate with Distinctive Assets for the second year in a row, as the exclusive interior designer of the Lounge.  This year performers enjoyed a luminescent white contemporary environment, replete with lush green foliage and organic chandeliers.  Décor for the lounge was provided courtesy of Niche Modern, material [ENVIRONMENT] and Big Red Sun.

It was an incredible experience to have so many creative, talented people come through the Lounge and see them enjoying themselves…

Inspirations for Thanksgiving Decor

For Thanksgiving decoration ideas this year, I would like to share some favorite images from my library…

Design by Ralph Lauren Home.  Photo via Elle Decor Magazine

I like this lush tablescape with the clusters of candles and loosely arranged flowers in earth-tone potteries.

The simple arrangement of roses and fruit look so pretty and elegant mixed with special china and tabletop pieces.

I have always liked the mix of vines and ornate candelabra with the casually placed linens here.  Feels as though it’s out of a fairytale storybook.   To make it into a festive Thanksgiving table, I would add some deep orange colored flowers, maybe ranunculus, and amber glasses.

The vintage style plates and trays with pastries and berries make for a lovely dessert display.

Maple branches in a clear glass always make a nice fall-themed table.  Best part, it’s so easy!

Wishing you a beautiful and delicious Thanksgiving!

Amazing Craft

I have such a love of craftsmanship that I can watch an artisan at work with the same fascination and attention as some people viewing an action-packed Hollywood film.  Needless to say, I was therefore excited to come across this article on Elle Décor, in which Hermes gives a peek at how its products are meticulously crafted.

Apparently, the making of a single Hermes scarf takes two years and requires 280 miles of silk thread.  One more reason to appreciate it!

A peek inside the GRAMMY’s Official Talent Gift Lounge…

Welcome to a candy inspired experience at the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards® Official Talent Gift Lounge.  Rihanna, LL Cool J, Maroon 5, Chris Brown, The Band Perry, Jason Aldean and many more experienced “a sweet escape” between rehearsals here, and indulged in what the best of Hollywood has to offer.  This year, I had the pleasure to join Distinctive Assets and event producer, Pam Morrison, to make this very special place.

In designing this lounge, I wanted to create something fanciful that stimulated a child-like excitement in the talent, yet was still sophisticated and edgy to appeal to their rock-star tastes.  Candy colors and the experience of being in a sweet shop was my inspiration.  Monumental pink architectural arches and a black & white checkerboard floor were introduced to bring a modern edge to this whimsical place.

I hope you will enjoy the photos!

CHIC HOLIDAY DECORATIONS

I love this time of the year – all the festivities and decorations that abound everywhere…  So, I have compiled images of some favorite holiday decoration ideas from various sources.  Perhaps, they could be inspiring for you as you decorate for the holidays.

COUNTRY CHIC

There is something quite romantic and magical about candelabras…

The overgrown greenery and oversize ornaments add wonderful drama to the mantle.

WHITE WONDERLAND

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012, photo via Harper’s Bazaar, December 2011/ January 2012

Even though this image is not related to home decor I included it because it feels like a fantasy winter wonderland… which I would want to use as an inspiration in my design.

Photo via Elle Decor, December 2011

Simple white flowering trees or flowers arrangements look great mixed with rustic elements.

RED GLAM

This arrangement would work just as well as a centerpiece on a dining table.

Happy Decorating!!!

A WHIMSICAL FALL DINNER

While going through my image files recently for inspiration for a design project, I came across this tablescape by Federico de Vera in House Beautiful magazine.  The setting is so romantic and whimsical with all the delicate Venetian glasses.  It reminds me of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antionette, which happens to be one of my favorite films set during a favorite decorative period (i.e. Rococo.)  With the busy season of holiday entertaining coming up, I decided to use this as inspiration to create a whimsical tablescape for Fall dining.  Whether it is for a large Thanksgiving party or an intimate dinner, why not bring a bit of playfulness to the table!

The collection of Venetian glasses in the setting above happens to be from Federico de Vera’s shop, deveraobjects.com.  I am so captivated by the pieces, I will have to remember to visit his shop next time I am in New York City.

A Celebration with Christofle & Champagne!

I recently attended an event at the Christofle boutique in Beverly Hills called, “The Evolution of Luxury.”  It included a presentation regarding special collaborations between Christofle and different houses of Champagne producers, comprising one-of-a-kind or limited edition silver pieces made for serving bubbly.  I have always enjoyed admiring their silver crafts and crystal; doing so with a glass of champagne doubles the joy!

A cage-like case for Ruinart Champagne.  My new obsession…

A lacework case for Perrier Jouet.  It is made to hold a magnum bottle.  However, once the bottle is opened, it can be used as a vase to hold a floral arrangement.  Quite a novel idea!

I just love that these exquisite pieces have a whimsical side…

Desserts look even more delectable when presented on a beautiful tray…

My friend, Katie Mayfield, and me with Jean-Claude Bourbon, the master silversmith at Christofle.
