A WHIMSICAL FALL DINNER

While going through my image files recently for inspiration for a design project, I came across this tablescape by Federico de Vera in House Beautiful magazine.  The setting is so romantic and whimsical with all the delicate Venetian glasses.  It reminds me of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antionette, which happens to be one of my favorite films set during a favorite decorative period (i.e. Rococo.)  With the busy season of holiday entertaining coming up, I decided to use this as inspiration to create a whimsical tablescape for Fall dining.  Whether it is for a large Thanksgiving party or an intimate dinner, why not bring a bit of playfulness to the table!

The collection of Venetian glasses in the setting above happens to be from Federico de Vera’s shop, deveraobjects.com.  I am so captivated by the pieces, I will have to remember to visit his shop next time I am in New York City.

A Celebration with Christofle & Champagne!

I recently attended an event at the Christofle boutique in Beverly Hills called, “The Evolution of Luxury.”  It included a presentation regarding special collaborations between Christofle and different houses of Champagne producers, comprising one-of-a-kind or limited edition silver pieces made for serving bubbly.  I have always enjoyed admiring their silver crafts and crystal; doing so with a glass of champagne doubles the joy!

A cage-like case for Ruinart Champagne.  My new obsession…

A lacework case for Perrier Jouet.  It is made to hold a magnum bottle.  However, once the bottle is opened, it can be used as a vase to hold a floral arrangement.  Quite a novel idea!

I just love that these exquisite pieces have a whimsical side…

Desserts look even more delectable when presented on a beautiful tray…

My friend, Katie Mayfield, and me with Jean-Claude Bourbon, the master silversmith at Christofle.
