Dwell on Design Favorites!

I visited Dwell on Design last Friday.  Below are my favorite products from the show!

1) Molo

The glowing wall is made of modular textile blocks with LED lighting.  The blocks can be used to create spaces.  It’s a pretty cool product!

Cloud Softlight

2) ID Infinity Drain

I am really excited to discover a cool looking shower drain.  Always love a fashionable function!

3) Poggen Pohl

Poggen Pohl’s new kitchen, Artesio.  A sleek kitchen.  I really like the lacquered glass front and ½” countertop.

4) Caleb Siemon

Hand blown crystal pendants by Caleb Siemon.  They are gorgeous and very reminiscent of Murano glasses.

What I love! Bold ceramics…

I discovered these ceramics by Sylvie Saint-André Perrin on Elle Décor.  These pieces are part of her collection called Glacier Stripe.  They are available at Bergdorf Goodman.

I love the rich color and organic stripes.  I can see this dinnerware being versatile.  Accent them with lime green and white peonies for a light summer look.  Or, for a dark and sultry look for dinner, mix them with emerald green and black.

Summer Dinner Party

Last Saturday, I decided to have an intimate cocktail and dinner party with a few girlfriends to celebrate the beginning of summer.  Below are some shots of the party…

Décor:

Food: Mediterranean inspired

Mussels in white wine sauce, grilled mushrooms and asparagus wrapped with prosciutto, cold pasta salad with olives and pepper, French baguette, and an assortment of cupcakes for dessert.

Wine:

Roederer Estate sparkling wine as aperitif – a party is not the same without bubbles!

Cuvee Rosee D’Aurore rose wine with dinner – I just discovered this rose and absolutely love it!  This is going to be my new favorite wine for the summer.  I got this at the Wine House in West LA.

Company:

Sandie Samuells, Reba Toney, Katie Hamilton

There’s nothing like fun girlfriends!  Thanks girls for a very lovely evening…

Hong Kong Part IV – Sweet & Beautiful

I was blown away by how many beauty and candy shops there are in Hong Kong.  They are everywhere — on the streets, in the shopping malls (I admit I visited a few of those…)  What I loved about them is that every place is well-designed, and the products beautifully displayed.  Everything looked delectable, both make-up and candies!  Check out some of the places below…

Hong Kong Part III – Favorite Spots

Some favorite spots in Hong Kong…

Soho

Soho (South of Hollywood Road) is a trendy area packed with restaurants, bars and cafes.  My favorite street here is Central.

Bouchon Bistro, Soho

We had lunch at Bouchon Bistro Francais on Central.  It’s a really tiny and cute French bistro.  The food was quite delicious!

The Escalator

View from the Escalator

The Escalator in Hong Kong is supposed to be the longest outdoor covered escalator system in the world.  It goes up, between buildings and over streets, in the hilly terrain of the city.  I found this ride to be so fascinating!  You catch glimpses of people’s apartments, stores, tons of reflexology spas, among other things.  It almost feels like a ride in Disneyland, only this is real and Asian…

Spoon by Alain Ducasse

I loved everything about the restaurant Spoon by Alain Ducasse – the design (a very important element), food and service!  Not to mention the breathtaking view of Victoria Harbor and Hong Kong’s skyline (above, from our table.)

Spoon, view of open kitchen

Spoon, table setting

The salt cellar and butter dish are delightful.

High tea at the Peninsula Hotel

There is nothing like high tea at the grand Peninsula Hotel after a day of shopping and walking around town ;)
